ZACH NEHRIR NAMED BATTER OF THE MONTH
CLEBURNE, TEXAS – Cleburne Railroaders’ center-fielder Zach Nehrir has been named the Rawlings Batter of the Month for July by the American Association.
“Zach is one of the greatest players in this league and has been a key piece to our team this season,” Railroaders’ manager Logan Watkins said. “There’s no doubt in my mind that he’s deserving of this honor.”
The two-time AAPB All-Star was on fire over the course of the month, hitting .324 with eight home runs and 28 runs batted in. Nehrir continued his base stealing rampage in July as well, swiping 11 bags over 14 attempts.
“Nehrir is a cornerstone of the organization who has performed at a high level in the American Association for a number of years,” Cleburne broadcaster Brad Allred said. “As someone who has covered him during his time in Cleburne, this award comes as no surprise.”
His performance over the month only adds on to what has been an outstanding season for the Houston Baptist University graduate. Nehrir is hitting .327 this season, with 13 home runs and 58 RBIs. He ranks in the top five in multiple offensive categories—third in stolen bases with 26, second in runs scored with 61, third in hits with 88, and fourth in extra-base hits with 38.
