GAMES:

Tuesday, May 25 – 7:05 PM at Lincoln

Wednesday, May 26 – 7:05 PM at Lincoln

Thursday, May 27 – 7:05 PM at Lincoln

Friday, May 28 – 7:00 PM at Kansas City

Saturday, May 29 – 7:00 PM at Kansas City

Sunday, May 30 – 1:00 PM at Kansas City

The first destination is Haymarket Park in Lincoln, widely considered the best facility in the American Association. In 2019, it was named the league’s Playing Surface of the Year for a 19th consecutive season as voted upon by league executives, media members and managers. Haymarket serves as the home of not only the Saltdogs but also the Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team during the spring and early summer.

Cleburne just wrapped up a three-game series against the Saltdogs at The Depot, taking two of three ballgames before dropping a wild 11-10 contest in the finale. The two South Division foes have played 43 times in franchise history, with Lincoln holding a 22-21 lead after Sunday’s victory. Both teams have struggled to pick up road victories in the series, with both carrying identical 15-6 home records into Sunday’s game.

The second leg of the road trip takes the Railroaders to Kansas City for their first meeting of the season with the Monarchs, who rebranded over the offseason after previously operating as the Kansas City T-Bones. The new name, colors, and logo are an homage to the legendary Negro League franchise that featured some of the best players in baseball history, including Ernie Banks, Jackie Robinson and Satchel Paige. As part of the rebrand, the Monarchs now play their home games at Legends Field, which also serves as the home of the Kansas City NWSL of the National Women’s Soccer League. One of the most distinctive features of the ballpark is the Little Green Monster, an 18-foot wall located in left field.

After failing to make the playoffs in their first seven seasons as a franchise, Kansas City has found success over the past two years. The club won the American Association title in 2018 and claimed a South Division title the following season under the direction of manager Joe Calfapietra. The Railroaders have struggled tremendously in Kansas City, with an all-time record of just 2-12 on the road and 7-22 overall against the Monarchs.
