Hunter Clanin gave the Railroaders (1-1) the game’s first lead with a towering solo home run in the third inning against Fargo-Moorhead starter Kevin Herget (1-0). That proved to be the only run Cleburne could muster against Herget, who fired seven innings with ten strikeouts to earn the victory.

Cleburne starter Michael Mariot delivered a strong performance in his Railroaders debut, allowing just one run over five innings with strikeouts. The RedHawks evened the score with a run in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Jordan George, then took the lead with a three-spot in the sixth. After a leadoff walk, Leobaldo Pina blasted a two-run homer to left off Railroaders reliever Garrett Alexander (0-1). Sam Dexter added the final run of the evening with an RBI double later in the inning to produce the deciding margin.

Kyle Chavez and Bryan Saucedo combined for three scoreless innings out of the Railroaders bullpen, allowing just one baserunner.

Fargo-Moorhead relievers Ryan Flores and Blake Rogers closed out the win for the RedHawks (1-1), with Rogers working a scoreless ninth to pick up the save.

The Railroaders and RedHawks conclude the series Thursday night at 7:06 PM. Left-hander Michael Gunn (0-0, 0.00) starts for Cleburne, while Fargo-Moorhead will counter with lefty Kevin McGovern (0-0, 0.00).
