Railroaders Sign Roberts, Finalize Roster
CLEBURNE, Tex. (May 16, 2021) – The Cleburne Railroaders announced Sunday the signing of left-handed pitcher Tristan Roberts. Additionally, the Railroaders placed pitchers Nathan Foriest, Domingo Jimenez and Isaac Sanchez on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of granting their release.
Roberts joins right-handed pitcher Jacob Garcia as pitching additions from the Black Sox, the Railroaders opponents during the 2021 exhibition schedule. A native of Canton, Georgia, Roberts pitched in three exhibition games against the Railroaders before signing. The 2021 season will be his first in professional baseball.
The lefty pitched at three different stops during his collegiate career, beginning with a pair of seasons as a two-way player at Georgia Highlands College from 2015-16. As a freshman, he allowed only one earned run in 10.1 innings for the Chargers, then went 3-1 with a 5.86 ERA the following season. Roberts transferred to Presbyterian College in 2017, appearing in nine games with the Blue Hose and notching ten strikeouts over 7.1 innings of work.
Roberts finished his college career at Georgia Southern, where the 25-year-old pitched in six games during his lone season with the Eagles in 2019.
With the addition of Roberts and the release of Foriest, Jimenez, and Sanchez, the Railroaders active roster stands at 24 players. Teams are allowed to carry up to 25 players for the first ten days of the season, after which the roster must be trimmed to 23.
The Railroaders open the 2021 season at home on May 18 against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. For information on partnerships, season tickets, group outings, and party packages, call the Railroaders main office at (817) 945-8705, or visit the Railroaders official website at www.railroaderbaseball.com.
