SUNDAY, MAY 23

The tale of the Shootin’ Irons is as old as Cleburne baseball itself. In a tied game against the Fort Worth Panthers, the Cleburne Railroaders had a group of more than 300 cowboys cheering them on - most of which were strapped with a six-shooter on each hip. When a Railroaders player hit a lazy fly ball to the outfield, the five cowboys pulled out their firearms and began shooting until all that was left of the ball was a cloud of twine. With no other option, the umpire motioned for the runner at third to advance, thus winning the game for Cleburne.

A poster and t-shirt will be for sale at this game, emblemmed with a special design by local artist Kevin McLaughlin. McLaughlin also created the new designs for the rebrand of the Cleburne Railroaders.

SUNDAY, JUNE 6

The 1906 Railroaders team not only won the Texas League Championship, but also featured the legendary Tris Speaker, who went on to play in the Major Leagues and become a Hall of Famer.

The Railroaders wrap up their first home series of the year on June 6 against their South Division rivals, the Kansas City Monarchs.

SUNDAY, JUNE 20

For this Lone Star Legacy night, we are celebrating the 1911 team, who won the 1911 Texas-Oklahoma League championship. They played their home games at Gorman's Park, now part of Hulen Park.

The Railroaders battle their in-state brethren on June 20, taking on the expansion Houston Apollos.

SUNDAY, JULY 4

On the Fourth of July, we’re celebrating the Santa Fe Railroad. Between the professional seasons and thereafter, the Santa Fe shops played several teams that competed across the nation, and the shops are still a big part of our heritage.

The Railroaders take on the Sioux Falls Canaries on Independence Day, the first of four series between the two clubs in 2021.

SUNDAY, JULY 18

It’s a big matchup with the Sioux City Explorers coming to town, and the Railroaders aim to honor the tradition of Railroaders fans more than a century ago. In 1906, Railroader fans showed love for their team by wearing red comotoes.  With a fashion similar to Hawaiian shirts, this clothing item was all the rage in 1906 - and a fun way to cheer on the Railroaders!

SUNDAY, AUGUST 1

The night after our Tris Speaker bobblehead giveaway, this Sunday showdown with the Apollos will continue the celebration of the legendary “Grey Eagle.” Designs for this Lone Star Legacy night sticker are by artist Hunter Moehring, a Dallas-based creative specializing in poster designs. Moehring is intrinsic to the local music scene, and much of this inspiration can be found in his work.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 22

Before the official Negro League teams in Texas, the Black Spudders competed across North Texas in the 1920s. The team faced immense racism in order to play the game they loved. Oscar “Fudge” Frame starred for the local Cleburne Colored Team, dazzling fans with his incredible play despite having only one arm.
