PRIME OUTDUELS CUMBIE AS RAILROADERS FALL 3-2

CLEBURNE, TX – Unlike the night previous, the Railroaders and the RedHawks were involved in a pitcher’s duel on Friday, June 30 from La Moderna Field. It was the RedHawks who came away victorious, 3-2.

BOX SCORE

The scoring didn’t get started until the bottom of the fourth inning. Zach Nehrir led off the frame with a triple to left field. This enabled Jose Sermo to drive him home via an RBI groundout.

That lead wouldn’t last long, however, as the first pitch in the top of the fifth was blasted deep into the Cleburne night by Matt Goodheart to tie the game.

Fargo-Moorhead captured the lead for good in the top of the sixth. Alec Olund led off the inning with a single, which was followed by a Leobaldo Pina two-run homer that went over the scoreboard in left field.

Cleburne attempted several comeback attempts throughout the rest of the game, but the most threatening one came in the bottom of the eighth. Once again, Nehrir led off the inning with an extra-base hit, this time a double. After Sermo flied out, Hill Alexander drove Nehrir home with a single to make it 3-2.

Unfortunately for Cleburne, that was all they could muster. Alex DuBord shut them down in the ninth, sealing the victory for the RedHawks.

Correlle Prime picked up the win for the RedHawks and was exceptional. He went six and two-thirds innings and allowed just one run on five hits. He struck out six and walked four.

Trey Cumbie got the loss for the Railroaders. Over his five and two-thirds innings of work, he allowed three runs on seven hits, with six strikeouts and no walks.

The Railroaders continue their six-game series against the RedHawks tomorrow at 7:06 p.m. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 p.m. on aabaseball.tv and on the Railroader Broadcast Network on Mixlr.
