Physical Right-Hander Garcia Signs with Railroaders
CLEBURNE, Tex. (May 13, 2021) – The Cleburne Railroaders announced Thursday the signing of right-handed pitcher Jacob Garcia.
The 2021 season will mark Garcia’s professional debut. The 6’5, 220-pounder appeared against the Railroaders in Cleburne’s first exhibition game with the Road Warrior Black Sox, hurling three spotless innings at Cleburne High School. He made his Railroaders debut in Cleburne’s exhibition contest Wednesday night.
A native of Pharr, Texas, Garcia played with the Texas A&M University club baseball team while in college, helping the Aggies reach the National Club Baseball Division I World Series in 2018. Garcia dominated on the mound, going 7-0 with a 0.92 ERA in 8 games, striking out 58 and walking just eight over 49.0 innings, helping Texas A&M win the Gulf Coast Regional Tournament.
Garcia graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North High School in 2012, and from A&M with a degree in engineering in 2017. The 27-year-old will be classified as a true rookie for the 2021 season.
