In honor of Black History Month and the popularity of Negro Leagues in the city of Cleburne through the 1900s, the Cleburne Railroaders and Dugger Electric announced the return of the Cleburne Eagles throwback uniforms for 2025.

2024 marked the first year that the Railroaders paid tribute to the historic team with the classic jerseys and hats in collaboration with the Dugger Electric, Councilman John Warren, and the East Cleburne Community Center (ECCC). The uniforms were featured during the home series versus the Milwaukee Milkmen in late June and were auctioned off with all the proceeds going to the ECCC.

What became one of the most successful auctioned items of the season, turned into $3,400 for the center that was established in 1987.

Here’s the ECCC’s mission statement from their website:

“The continuing mission of ECCC is to provide every child with a positive interaction with his or her community and to enhance pride in self and community. It is through this mission that ECCC has successfully endeavored to connect generations together to invest in their neighbors and community. Although ECCC provides services and programs for all ages, the youth in Johnson County are the primary target, with a special emphasis on elementary through high school age students who are economically disadvantaged. ECCC also works with any individual wishing to pursue a higher education.”

The Railroaders plan to keep the foundation of the logo and colors from last year’s uniforms but are in the process of finding a local black artist for a new design. A similar time frame is in place for the team to debut the jerseys to celebrate Juneteenth on June 21st. Following the conclusion of “Eagles night,” Dugger Electric will present a fireworks display.
